Social Enterprise in Shipley
Added: 4th July 2023
The Big Futures Event, held at Aviva in York, was the culmination of a year-long learning programme, run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs. The event brought together 40 individuals from Yorkshire, the North East and North West of England to celebrate the development and growth of their social businesses.
Business development manager Helen Rowlands secured a place on the Lloyds Bank Trade Up programme 18-19, looking specifically at the MCF Bikery in Shipley. The programme focussed on developing the skills of individuals, enabling them to grow the traded income of their social enterprises with a matched trading grant of £4,000.
The Bikery now features in the promotional film and Helen Rowlands features in the latest edition of Big Futures, the Social Entrepreneurs Annual, both produced by the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
Helen says: “I learnt a lot from being on the Trade Up programme about developing and leading a social enterprise. We managed to secure the full £4,000 matched trading grant and I have the confidence that we will continue to grow the income at the Bikery, contributing to the overall sustainability of MCF.”
