Ilkley Recycling Day Success

TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FOR THE THE SEVENTH ANNUAL RECYCLING DAY IN ILKLEY
The annual collection, organised by The Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale was held in the main car park in Ilkley on Saturday 26 September with additional Covid safety measures in place.
Due to the pandemic and local restrictions in Bradford District the planning of the collection started later this year but the support from the public on the day was terrific. There were approximately 120 bikes, a variety of wheelchairs and other mobility aids, over 100 backpacks, 200 spectacles and four van loads of tools.
The mobility aids were dropped off with our friends at PhysioNet on the Monday morning following the collection and the first delivery of bikes for recyling were delivered to the project at St Joseph’s Approved Premises later in the week.
A rotary spokesman said:
The Rotary Club and its associated charities on the day (the Margaret Carey Foundation, Ilkley Tools for Africa and Mary’s Meals) would like to thank all those people who took the trouble to come down into Ilkley to donate all these items. It was a fantastic result which will benefit many people both in the UK and third world countries.
The Margaret Carey Foundation would like to thank all the members of the Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale for their ongoing support and all the members of the public that supported the collection on the day.
If you are a member of a group or organisation and have been inspired by the Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club maybe you would like to organise a bike collection day for MCF in your local community?
