Bike Loan Scheme Helping Cyclists Through Lockdown
Added: 25th June 2021
At the start of the Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020 MCF donated a number of bikes to a free loan scheme for NHS and other key workers in Bradford.
As the restrictions have continued throughout 2020 and into 2021 the scheme has remained in place and is still making a difference to individuals.
Retired teacher Tariq Sheikh who has benefitted from the scheme said:
The bike has given me freedom. I can go anywhere and at any time. Cycling has become a huge part of my daily exercise since there is no gyms and we are not allowed to mix with others due to the lockdown. Thank you for this loan, much appreciated.
If you have a bike you would like to donate to MCF please get in touch.
Merle Collett, who also benefitted from a free bike loan said:
Having access to a bike has meant I can travel in Bradford freely. My commute times are shorter and more enjoyable and my fitness has increased. Really opened up where I can go and how it makes me feel. I love my bike!
