REFURBISHED BIKES HELPING REDUCE ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR IN SHIPLEY
PCSO Ben Verdeyen and his colleague PCSO Matthew Veall got in touch with MCF to ask if we had any refurbished bikes we could donate to a group of young people in a Shipley children’s home. Ben and Matt were working with the teenagers as part of a mentoring programme to try to reduce instances of Anti Social Behaviour, particularly around Halloween. Although they were aware that there would be a reward for good behaviour, none of the boys knew exactly what they would be receiving.
A proportion of MCF refurbished bikes are always donated to groups and individuals who could benefit from a bike so we were more than happy to donate to these young people. We were also pleased to hear that all the boys earned their rewards after a noticeable improvement in their behaviour both in the home and in the wider community and were excited to receive the bikes.
If you work with people who may benefit from a refurbished bike please complete a bike donation request form. Our supply of refurbished bikes is limited but we do try and support as many different causes as we can.
